A new paradigm
It starts with a new technological paradigm. EGO is a complex system of highly specialised components. Its architecture centres on a distinctive bolt-on assembly in aircraft-grade aluminium, providing a solid, functional structure. The wired audio section operates in a shielded, stabilised environment protected from external interference. The section housed in the arm manages the onboard systems, with a separate power supply and fully independent operation.
Thanks to the internal sensors, the EGOremoteGarage app (EGOrG) makes managing your instrument easy and enjoyable. Everything is under control: temperature and humidity are measured in real time, with a weekly log and monthly history, so you can be confident that your instrument is being kept within the correct conditions. An inertial measurement system detects impacts, grades their severity and records every event in an archive searchable by date and time. If you suspect your instrument has been mishandled or moved carelessly, you will have a record of what happened. The information can also support preventive diagnostics and timely maintenance, helping reduce the cost of identifying problems or damage. The neck controller is simple and intuitive, allowing you to adjust the brightness, colour, speed, offset and lighting patterns of the illuminated fret markers. To change these settings, simply activate Bluetooth (BT) using the button on the rear compartment of the arm. The neck lights up blue to confirm activation. You can then communicate with the neck through the EGOrG app, which acts as a controller. If you do not need to use the app, simply plug in the jack: the fret markers will light up using the last selected start-up pattern and your chosen lighting and display settings. An ambient light sensor automatically adjusts brightness to suit the conditions, and this function can be disabled at any time through EGOrG. A modern approach means making everyday use simpler, and technology of this kind also requires careful power management. As mentioned, the audio section is completely separate from the onboard technology, both for electrical compatibility and power management. The generous 3000 mAh lithium battery powering the onboard systems is managed by a DSP and recharges automatically whenever the Hyper SS is placed on its Hercules GS412B (plus) stand fitted with the dedicated wireless charging extension. During charging, the neck displays the charging status and percentage at the 12th fret, using an intuitive traffic-light colour scheme.
Hyperswitch, a project conceived and launched in our workshops, became a reality thanks to Santa Barbara-based Seymour Duncan. Since late 2022, EGO has been the first guitar to feature this technology. Fitted to all Hyper SS models, Hyperswitch uses its dedicated app of the same name to manage all the guitar’s pickup coil wiring configurations in real time, creating multiple presets that can be recalled easily in the traditional way. Shape your sound with just a few taps on your smartphone and save your settings to the desired switch positions. When Bluetooth is disabled, Hyperswitch behaves like a conventional analogue selector switch, using the most recently saved wiring configurations. Unlock more of your instrument’s potential and musical expression in a way that is easy, fast and fun, while gaining greater control over your sound.
